Sections Per Mat - Choose as a One-Piece or Cut into Sections
A Resilite wrestling mat may be cut to any configuration you specify. The mat can be one-piece or cut into the number of sections you specify. After deciding upon the size of the mat, the next step is to decide how the mat will be cut. No matter how many sections your mat is cut into, all of the edges will be coated to prevent deterioration and vandalism.

Transporting
Another thing to keep in mind about wrestling mat sizes & number of sections is that will the mat fit while transporting through the premise? Are there any narrow, curving stairways or narrow entry ways and corners that will cause complications for a one-piece mat to be transported through?

Weight
A mat that contains more sections will weigh less in weight for athletes to transport.

Direction of Cuts
Which direction will the cuts go through the mat (vertical or horizontal)? Our standard is to cut the mat vertically unless there is a logo/lettering that will be cut in half. Depending if lettering (4 letters or more) is put on the mat, the letters should be on one section rather than being split onto different sections. If there are less than 4 letters, the letters will usually fit on one section.

Will you need to roll it a specific way in a wrestling room? If you need to have the mat cut in a certain direction, be sure to notify Resilite or your local dealer.

One or More Sections

One or More Sections
Envision a five section mat as
shown. The center section is
wide enough to allow
the 10’ circle line and
an oversized logo.

    One Piece

A One-Piece Mat doesn't involve time to tape mat sections. There isn't the concern of mat sections coming apart during practices & tournaments for safety. However, this type of mat requires more people to roll, unroll, and transport to the desired location. Generally, one-piece mats will stay on the floor permanently or are stored in a mat hoist.

  3 Section Mats
Most of Resilite's mats are cut into 3 vertical sections. The more cuts there are on a mat, it will require more taping and time for setup. However, each of the sections will be less in weight. When including lettering (four or more letters), the cut of the mat may have to be changed from the standard vertical cut to a horizontal cut.

4 & Even Number Section Mats

WARNING:. By choosing to have a mat cut into an even numbered sections (2, 4, 6, etc), the center cut line will go directly in the center of the mat.

If an international style mat is cut vertically or horizontally, the international 1' meter circle will be cut in half.

If a mat has standard Starting/Referee Marks and is cut vertically the Referee Marks will be cut in half. If the mat is cut horizontally, the Starting/Referee Marks would have a cut just above the top starting line, as shown below. If there is a logo in the center of the mat, the will be cut in half also.
