| For nearly 50 years,
Resilite has been manufacturing quality athletic mats. Resilite
has grown from a manufacturing leader of wrestling mats to providing
protective mats for gymnastics, cheerleading, pre-school, tumbling,
weightlifting, and more. Our reputation for customer satisfaction
and first class workmanship has made Resilite the world's largest
mat manufacturer.
Prior to the 1950s, wrestling mats were frightful. They consisted
of a smashed-down pile of horsehair, crammed into a canvas
cover. Mats were hard to keep clean and mat burns were not
only common but wrestlers also had the constant threat of
infection. Then in 1959, Warren Tischler started a mat company
in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. He perfected a new type of wrestling
mat manufactured with PVC Rubber Nitrile foam covered with
a PVC vinyl painted surface. This new type of wrestling mat
was more resilient, lighter, and safer than the old canvas
mats. To prove his mat had better shock absorption, he would
drop an egg onto the surface of the mat from as high as a
second story building and the egg wouldn't break! Schools
soon realized that Resilite mats were safe to use and extremely
durable. As a result, the sport of wrestling began to expand
to more schools across the United States.
In 1963, Resilite completed a move from a small rented garage
to a new 45,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Northumberland,
Pennsylvania. Since that time, Resilite has expanded several
more times and increased the size of its manufacturing facility
to nearly 100,000 square feet.
In 1972, Resilite added gymnastic folding and landing mats
to its product line of athletic mats. Resilite now manufactures
mats for preschool, cheerleading, weightlifting, aerobics
and martial arts. We continue to develop innovative products
to fill the needs of the athletic community.
The success of Resilite would not be possible without the
dedicated hard work of its sales representatives and employees.
Many of theses people have been with the company for nearly
40 years with one ambition - to produce state-of-the-art athletic
mats for the athletes who use them.
